“NTRA” agrees to reconcile with Mountain View company after reconciling its situation and fined 20 million pounds”

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has imposed a fine of 20 million pounds on Mountain View company after it made promotional calls in violation of the provisions of the law, and for the regulatory procedures approved by the authority regarding the use of mobile lines in making promotional and commercial calls, after the authority agreed to reconcile with the company that reconciled its situation with regard to making promotional and commercial calls, and confirmed that it has taken all measures not to harm citizens.

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) confirms its support and appreciation to companies operating in Egypt, and that the aim of issuing regulatory procedures related to promotional calls is to regulate and govern this service, to ensure the protection of citizens ‘ privacy and prevent their exposure to annoying calls that violate the laws.

These measures also aim to promote a stable investment environment that supports all economic sectors and provides protection for employees of the companies concerned, in order to achieve a balance between the rights of users and the interests of companies.

In this context, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) will use the collected amounts of fines imposed on violating companies to enhance the quality of services provided in the Egyptian telecommunications market through the NTRA’s Universal Service Fund, which is concerned with ensuring the access of telecommunications services to all regions of the Republic, including areas of economic and urban expansion, urban, rural and remote areas, through the establishment of infrastructure projects necessary to achieve the Universal telecommunications service base.

It is worth mentioning that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has approved the regulatory rules for the use of mobile lines in making promotional and commercial calls to ensure that the service is provided legitimately and legally without violating the privacy of citizens or disturbing them, as this service allows citizens the possibility of receiving the name and number of the caller with the promotional call or getting a prior warning that the incoming call is a promotional call (NTRA Alert), which allows citizens the freedom to respond to this type of calls or ignore them.
