Kaspersky, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has announced the launch of a new online training program “Cybersecurity: Entry Level”. The free course is designed for first- and second-year university students from both technical and non-technical fields, aiming to integrate cybersecurity awareness into academic curriculums and enhance students’ preparedness against growing digital risks

Cybersecurity as a Higher Education Priority

According to Kaspersky’s IT Security Economics report, 88% of organizations worldwide faced at least one cyber incident in 2024, with human error being a major contributing factor. As industries increasingly rely on digital infrastructure, the demand for cybersecurity skills is rising across all sectors, making it essential for universities to introduce information security concepts at the early stages of education

Key Topics of the Course

The Cybersecurity: Entry Level program focuses on four main areas:

Basic concepts of cybersecurity

Attacker tools and types of cyberattacks.

Key fields of cybersecurity

The future of cybersecurity

The course features 26 video lessons ranging from 5 to 30 minutes, along with self-assessment quizzes and a final test. Students who complete all modules and pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher will receive an official Kaspersky Certificate of Completion

Preparing Students for Cybersecurity Careers

In addition to fundamental knowledge, the course offers career guidance sessions for students interested in pursuing cybersecurity professions, highlighting the required skills and expertise needed for different roles in the field

Kaspersky’s Statement

Evgeniya Russkikh, Head of Academic Affairs at Kaspersky, commented:“Cybersecurity is no longer the sole responsibility of IT departments—it’s a shared responsibility across all teams. By introducing cybersecurity concepts early in a student’s academic journey, universities can help build a workforce that is not only technically proficient but also security-conscious from day one

Available via Kaspersky Academy Alliance

The course is available to universities that are members of the Kaspersky Academy Alliance, a global partnership program designed to integrate Kaspersky’s expertise and technologies into academic teaching. Institutions can easily embed the course into their learning management systems upon request
