Kaspersky Warns of Global Scam Surge Exploiting New “Demon Slayer” Movie

a global cybersecurity and digital privacy company, has identified a worldwide scam campaign exploiting the recent release of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.” Cybercriminals are luring anime fans with fake websites that promise free streaming access to the new film, aiming to steal users’ personal and financial data.
According to Kaspersky experts, scammers have launched multilingual phishing sites designed to reach a global audience. These fraudulent websites claim to offer the movie with subtitles or voiceovers in the viewer’s local language. However, when users attempt to play the film, a fake video player appears, prompting them to “register” to unlock unlimited access.
During this registration process, users are asked to provide personal information, such as their email address, phone number, and password. In later steps, the fake forms request banking details under the pretext of a “free trial,” putting users at risk of data theft, credential leaks, and financial loss.
> “Cybercriminals often take advantage of popular entertainment launches like Demon Slayer to exploit fan enthusiasm,” said Olga Altukhova, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky. “We strongly encourage users to watch movies only via official streaming platforms to protect their data and avoid potential scams.”
Kaspersky’s Recommendations to Stay Safe:
Verify website authenticity before entering any personal or financial information. Always check URLs and official domain names carefully.
Use legitimate and reputable streaming services only.
Install a trusted security solution capable of detecting phishing and malicious links.
Enable multi-factor authentication (2FA) on key accounts and regularly review financial statements for unauthorized activity.
Kaspersky highlighted that its Kaspersky Premium solution achieved a 93% phishing detection rate with zero false positives in AV-Comparatives’ 2024 and 2025 anti-phishing tests, earning the “Approved” certification from the independent testing lab.
