In a major move for social inclusion and disability rights in Egypt, LG Egypt (LG Egypt) has teamed up with the Misr El Kheir Foundation to launch a first-of-its-kind initiative supporting the marriage and independent living of people with disabilities in the governorates of Minya and Assiut.
Under the banner of the “Life’s Good” slogan, the programme aims to empower under-privileged individuals with disabilities by providing essential household appliances such as energy-efficient washing machines and televisions. The goal is to enable new couples to launch married life with dignity, stability and economic independence.
This partnership aligns with Egypt’s growing focus on inclusion, equality and social empowerment of persons with disabilities—a demographic estimated at around 12 million. The setbacks to marriage and household formation for disabled persons have been widely reported, with societal stigma, economic barriers and lack of institutional support cited as key obstacles.
According to Mohamed El Gedawy, Marketing and PR Manager at LG Egypt: “At LG, we believe that our slogan ‘Life’s Good’ can only be truly realised when everyone has equal opportunities. This initiative specifically targets people with disabilities—it reflects our genuine commitment to building a more inclusive society, where young people can begin their journey with dignity and independence.”
Eng. Ahmed Youssef, Senior Director of the Direct Aid Program at Misr El Kheir, added: “We highly value our ongoing partnership with LG. This initiative is another step toward supporting and empowering persons with disabilities across Egypt. Helping them establish a stable married life strengthens their dignity and social integration.”
Importantly, the scheme in Minya and Assiut is described as the first phase of a broader rollout. LG Egypt confirmed that future programmes will target additional governorates, as part of its sustainability agenda and ongoing corporate social-responsibility strategy. This approach reflects national policy momentum in favour of disability inclusion under the national strategy for human rights and other frameworks.
With appliances tailored for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, the initiative also reflects wider trends in Egypt towards sustainable living, household empowerment and inclusive growth. By bridging technology, social welfare and community development, LG Egypt and Misr El Kheir aim to convert the slogan “Life’s Good” into a lived reality for one of society’s most vulnerable cohorts.
