The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA) warns users of websites and electronic applications against sharing their national ID data on these websites and applications.

As per NTRA’s recommendations, visitors and users of websites and e-apps should not share their national ID data except with trusted websites and apps, such as those that belong to and run by the government.

This comes as part of NTRA’s efforts to protect users’ rights and ensure the privacy of their personal information and data.

It’s worth noting that NTRA has recently observed that some websites and e-apps have been requesting the data of national ID cards in violation to the usual procedures for purchasing or registering on such websites or apps.

Consequently, this may expose users to risks of identity theft, privacy violations, or misuse of this data in any form, contrary to the provisions of Law.
