The Embassy of India in Egypt marked Ayurveda Day with a high-profile event spotlighting the growing importance of complementary medicine in preventive and holistic healthcare.

The program featured an expert panel including H.E. Mr. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt; Prof. Aliaa Elgendy, Head of the Complementary Medicine Department at Egypt’s National Research Centre; Prof. Mohamed Elshennawi, President of Galala National University; and Dr. Prakash, Cultural Director at the Embassy of India.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Reddy emphasized India’s structured approach to Ayurveda education and licensing, ensuring scientific rigor and credibility. He highlighted how millions turned to Ayurvedic remedies during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating its effectiveness as a trusted system of complementary medicine.

The event also featured live video sessions connecting leading Ayurvedic doctors in India with the Egyptian audience through Sushain, a pioneering digital platform. Experts explained the scientific foundations of Ayurveda, discussed Panchkarma therapies, and answered participant questions—helping dispel misconceptions and strengthen confidence in the practice.

Sushain, founded by Vikram Singh Parmar, currently offers over 25,000 authentic Ayurvedic products and connects users with 2,000+ certified doctors for telemedicine consultations. Speaking at the event, Parmar noted:

“Ayurveda’s global journey depends on trust and authenticity. By bringing doctors directly to people through technology, we are making Ayurveda accessible, scientific, and interactive.”

The strong engagement at the event underscored the potential of Ayurveda and complementary medicine in shaping the future of preventive healthcare in Egypt and worldwide.
