DP World Inaugurates Integrated Central Industrial Laboratories at Ain Sokhna Port

DP World Egypt celebrated the inauguration of the Integrated Central Industrial Laboratories at Ain Sokhna Port, a milestone project designed to transform customs clearance, enhance trade efficiency, and position Egypt as a leading regional logistics hub.

The event was attended by H.E. Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, alongside senior government officials including Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone; Mr. Hossam Heiba, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones; Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control; . Sherif El-Kilani, Deputy Minister of Finance for Tax Policy; and Mr. Ahmed Amouie, Head of the Customs Authority. Representatives from leading export councils, international inspection firms, and major import companies also took part in the inauguration tour.

During the visit, DP World presented the latest customs modernization initiatives, including the Joint Risk Management System, which integrates all government agencies involved in import and export clearance. The upgraded digitized export cycle now links directly with shipping lines, agencies, and container terminals, cutting clearance time and boosting transparency.

The new laboratories are equipped with advanced technologies to ensure compliance with international safety and quality standards, offering certified inspection for exports, protecting domestic markets from non-compliant goods, and accelerating the clearance process.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister El-Khatib emphasized:

> “Our strategic goal is to eliminate bureaucracy and streamline procedures by unifying government efforts to serve investors and facilitate trade. The integration we witnessed today reflects the Prime Minister’s directives to maintain continuous operations, even on public holidays, to maximize efficiency and strengthen Egypt’s ports as global logistics hubs.”

 Walid Gamal El-Din highlighted the Authority’s vision, saying:

> “Improving customs procedures across all ports is a priority. This project reflects our commitment to positioning the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a world-class logistics hub.”

Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt, added:

> “Integrating the Central Industrial Laboratories into Ain Sokhna’s operations will enhance efficiency, speed, and quality control. DP World remains committed to strengthening the port’s role as a key gateway for regional and global trade.”
