Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility solutions, is participating in TransMEA 2025, Egypt’s leading transportation and smart mobility exhibition and conference, taking place in Cairo from 9 to 11 November. The company is showcasing its latest innovations that contribute to Egypt’s vision of building a modern and more efficient urban transportation network.

During this year’s edition, Alstom is highlighting the progress of the Cairo Monorail Project as it prepares for commercial operation, alongside other major projects including the modernization of Cairo Metro Line 1 and the establishment of the new Industrial Complex in Borg Al Arab. These projects reflect Alstom’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s transition toward a more sustainable and integrated mobility ecosystem.

Ramy Salah El-Din, Managing Director of Alstom Egypt, stated:

> “We see ourselves as a strategic partner in shaping the future mobility ecosystem in Egypt. Through localization, knowledge transfer, and developing local talent, we are empowering the next generation of Egyptian engineers and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for innovation.”

For more than four decades, Alstom has played a key role in advancing Egypt’s transportation landscape through its trains, signaling systems, and infrastructure solutions, within the framework of its longstanding partnership with the Ministry of Transport.

The Cairo Monorail—the first in Africa and the world’s longest driverless monorail—stands as a flagship example of innovation and collaboration. The project will improve connectivity, significantly reduce travel times, ease traffic congestion, and help lower carbon emissions. It has also created thousands of local jobs and contributed to building national technical expertise.

Alstom continues to invest in human capital through initiatives such as the Egyptian Railway Academy (ERA) launched during COP27, which trains hundreds of young engineers in advanced rail systems, ensuring Egypt’s future mobility solutions are designed and led by Egyptian professionals.

Meanwhile, the Cairo Engineering Center has evolved into a regional hub exporting Egyptian expertise to countries including Morocco, Algeria, Tanzania, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia—strengthening Egypt’s strategic role in transportation innovation across Africa and the Middle East.

The new 12-hectare Industrial Complex in Borg Al Arab represents a major step towards localizing rail manufacturing and technology. The facility will produce train components and electrical systems for both domestic demand and export, demonstrating Alstom’s long-term investment in Egypt’s industrial capabilities and economic growth.

Alstom reaffirms its commitment to supporting Egypt’s vision for a connected, smart, and sustainable mobility future—one that enhances the quality of life for millions and drives continued national development
