Pearson and British Council Honour 109 Top Egyptian Students at OPLAs 2025

Pearson, in collaboration with the British Council in Egypt, honoured 109 high-achieving students during the Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLAs) 2025, held at the British Embassy Garden in Cairo. The event brought together leading education figures, diplomats, school leaders, and families to celebrate academic excellence across the country
The ceremony was attended by Mark Bryson-Richardson, UK Ambassador to Egypt, alongside Mark Howard and Kathryn Booth, recognising students who achieved top results at national, regional, and global levels in Pearson Edexcel qualifications
Record-Breaking Achievement Across Egypt
This year’s awards marked a record milestone, with 124 awards presented to 109 students from 56 schools nationwide, highlighting the growing impact of international education in Egypt
The awards were presented across three main categories:
Highest Mark in the World
Highest Mark in Africa
Highest Mark in Egypt
Strengthening UK–Egypt Education Partnership
Speaking at the event, the UK Ambassador praised the exceptional achievements of Egyptian students, emphasizing that their success reflects both individual excellence and the strength of educational collaboration between Egypt and the United Kingdom
Meanwhile, the British Council’s Country Director in Egypt highlighted the remarkable scale and quality of student performance, noting the increasing role of international qualifications in delivering world-class education standards
Growing Demand for International Education
The awards underscore the rapid growth of Egypt’s education sector, which includes over 60,000 schools, with the private education segment expanding significantly in recent years. Demand for international education pathways continues to rise, driven by the need for globally competitive skills
