Visa has officially opened applications for Cohort 6 of the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator, inviting fintech startups across the continent—including Egypt—to apply before the May 17, 2026 deadline
The announcement follows the successful Demo Day for Cohort 5, held during GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, where 18 high-growth fintech startups from 10 African countries showcased innovative solutions addressing diverse financial and commerce needs
Since its launch, the accelerator has supported more than 100 startups across Africa, with a combined valuation of approximately $1.4 billion. The program continues to play a pivotal role in advancing digital payments, fostering innovation, and expanding financial inclusion across the continent
Through a structured three-month program, participating startups benefit from tailored mentorship, strategic guidance, commercial opportunities, and access to Visa’s global network—enabling them to scale operations and unlock new growth opportunities
The Cohort 5 Demo Day highlighted the strength of Africa’s fintech ecosystem, with startups operating across 28 markets and addressing key challenges in digital finance, payments infrastructure, and financial services accessibility
Visa also emphasized the growing importance of ecosystem collaboration, with accelerator alumni forming strategic partnerships to drive innovation. Notable collaborations include Chari and Zazu in SME banking solutions, as well as Credable partnering with Onafriq to expand digital credit access
Additionally, Kredete is advancing stablecoin-linked card solutions across multiple markets, while MoneyHash has entered a multi-year agreement to enable Visa’s Cybersource platform across the MENA region
Visa executives highlighted that collaboration between startups, enablers, and industry leaders is key to accelerating fintech growth and shaping the future of digital commerce in Africa
With applications now open, the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator continues to strengthen its role as a leading platform for fintech innovation, offering startups the tools and partnerships needed to scale and succeed in global markets
