The briefing was attended by more than 100 local and international media representatives, both in person and virtually, and provided updates on Egypt’s preparations to host one of Africa’s most important annual economic gatherings focused on trade, investment, and economic transformation

Hassan Abdalla reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to successfully hosting AAM2026, emphasizing the country’s readiness and its strategic partnership with Afreximbank in supporting African economic integration, trade expansion, and sustainable development. He noted that the meetings serve as a key platform for dialogue on African financial cooperation, trade finance, and reforms in the global financial system to better reflect emerging economies
Dr. George Elombi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in hosting the event and highlighted the shared vision between Afreximbank and Egypt to accelerate industrialization, trade growth, and economic prosperity across Africa. He stressed that AAM2026 will strengthen partnerships, unlock investment opportunities, and advance intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)

The briefing also highlighted Egypt’s growing role as a regional financial and business hub, with expected benefits for the MICE sector, tourism in Alamein, and private sector participation. Afreximbank’s continued support was underscored, including approximately USD 9.5 billion in financing to Egypt over the past three years and the development of the African Trade Centre in the New Administrative Capital
