KHADAMATY–NEW
Microsoft’s AI Diffusion Report for Q1 2026, published by the Microsoft AI Economy Institute, highlights Egypt’s continued progress in generative artificial intelligence adoption, positioning the country as an active contributor to regional AI growth
According to the report, 14.8% of Egypt’s working-age population used generative AI during the first quarter of 2026, up from 13.4% in the previous period, representing an increase of 1.4 percentage points. The data is based on aggregated and anonymised Microsoft telemetry across more than 100 global markets
The report shows that Egypt’s performance aligns with a broader regional trend, as the Middle East continues to demonstrate strong AI adoption momentum. The United Arab Emirates leads globally with 70.1% adoption, while Qatar ranks among the top ten worldwide at 41.8%.
Mohamed Kassem, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, stated that the increase reflects significant real-world impact, noting that the growth represents nearly one million additional users in a single quarter. He emphasized that Egypt possesses the scale, talent, and institutional ambition required to accelerate AI-driven transformation

Microsoft has operated in Egypt for over 28 years, supporting digital transformation across government, education, financial services, and enterprise sectors, while contributing to AI literacy and workforce development
The report also highlights a widening global AI adoption gap, with the Global North reaching 27.5% compared to 15.4% in the Global South. It notes that investment in connectivity, digital infrastructure, and local-language AI development is key to closing this gap, aligning with Egypt’s long-term digital strategy and economic development goals
