Kaspersky Warns: Telecom Cyber Threats to Persist into 2026

KHADAMATYNEW

Kaspersky has warned that the major cybersecurity threats affecting the telecommunications sector in 2025 are expected to continue into 2026, while emerging technologies may introduce new operational risks for operators worldwide

According to the Kaspersky Security Bulletin 2025, telecom operators remain exposed to Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), supply-chain attacks, DDoS disruptions, and SIM-based fraud. Data from Kaspersky Security Network shows that 13% of telecom users encountered web threats and 21% faced on-device threats between November 2024 and October 2025, while 10% of telecom organizations experienced ransomware attacks

The report highlights that the industry’s transition toward large-scale deployment of new technologies—such as AI-driven network automation, post-quantum cryptography, and 5G-to-satellite integration—could amplify risks if not implemented with strong security controls

Kaspersky experts emphasize the need for continuous threat intelligence, careful management of AI automation, enhanced DDoS preparedness, and advanced endpoint detection to strengthen resilience across telecom networks
