ITIDA Opens Registration for Software Testing Competition to Boost Innovation and Quality

KHADAMATYNEW

The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) under the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has announced the launch of the Software Testing Competition as part of the 4th edition of Software Testing Day, and has opened registration for participation

The competition aims to encourage innovative and practical solutions to real-world challenges in software testing and quality assurance, supporting the development of high-quality software products that meet global standards

This initiative aligns with ITIDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s software industry, strengthen specialized professional skills, and support the development of digital solutions capable of competing in regional and international markets, contributing to Egypt’s vision of building a knowledge-based digital economy

The competition is open to university students, software testers, and developers. Participants are invited to submit innovative ideas addressing practical challenges in software testing. Areas of focus include (but are not limited to):

Automated test-case generation

Automated test scripting

Defect reporting and root-cause analysis

Synthetic test-data generation

Test execution scheduling and prioritization

Self-healing automation scripts

Other innovative solutions to improve software quality and efficiency

Teams may consist of up to five members. Each participant may join only one team, and each team can submit only one idea. Participation must be independent and not represent any company, organization, or institution. Teams must adhere to ethical and professional standards in choosing team names and submission content to ensure a fair and responsible competitive environment

Accepted teams will be notified on February 15, and will then develop their ideas into prototypes or full software solutions from April 5 to May 7. The top three teams will be announced on May 11 during Software Testing Day, where finalists will present their solutions to an international jury panel. All presentations and supporting materials must be in English to ensure consistent evaluation standards

To ensure integrity, participants must confirm that their ideas have not previously won any similar competition and are not commercial products currently on the market or planned for launch. Submissions violating professional conduct or involving discrimination, abuse, or unethical behavior will be disqualified

Established in 2001, SECC is ITIDA’s technical and knowledge arm, supporting Egypt’s software industry growth. It serves as an internationally accredited center of excellence, offering technical consultancy and certification services to software companies to enhance development processes and implement global software engineering standards
